Sanctuaries are places of refuge where one finds comfort, restoration, and peace. They are where people are sheltered from harm and empowered to move forward with hope. Alternative Dispute Resolution includes mediation, negotiation, and coaching, designed to resolve conflicts without a full-blown trial. ADR promotes open dialogue, mutual understanding, and practical solutions that preserve time and resources.

SanctuaryADR is a place and a practice grounded in respect for human dignity with the belief that people and organizations experiencing challenging conflicts deserve care and clarity so they can move forward with confidence.

Gene has: "[a] calm demeanor and businesslike focus....One way to reduce the overall cost of our legal system is to keep potential litigants out of the courtroom to begin with, and in that regard, Roberts has the clear edge...."

Your Questions, Answered

What should I expect during mediation?

Mediation is a structured and supportive process that helps people work through conflict in a respectful, guided way. My role as mediator is to support the conversations, help clarify what matters most to each person, and assist in identifying options for moving forward.

You can expect a confidential and neutral environment, clear agreements about how the conversation will unfold, and space for each person to be heard. I will ask questions and keep the discussion focused and productive.

Mediation is about understanding what’s happening, addressing what’s getting in the way, and finding a path forward that feels workable for everyone involved.

How long does a coaching session last?

Most coaching sessions last 50 minutes, which provides enough time to explore what’s happening, reflect thoughtfully, and identify practical next steps. You won’t feel rushed or overwhelmed.

Some sessions may be shorter or longer depending on your goals and the nature of the work. During an initial conversation, we’ll talk about what you’re looking for and decide together how to best support you.

Is conflict resolution confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is a core principle of mediation and coaching. What is discussed during mediation and coaching is not shared outside the process, with limited exceptions required by law (such as elder or child neglect).

Confidentiality allows people to speak openly and explore solutions without fear of their words being used against them later. Confidentiality allows real progress to occur.
